In the past years, the politics, economy and foreign relations of Bangladesh have remained in a state of flux while the country continued to slide towards absolutism.
The COVID-19 pandemic, mode of governance and emerging geo-politics of the region impacted the economic and political landscapes of the country as well as the government’s external alignments. The essays of this book chronicle these developments, offer thought-provoking analyses, and explore what these developments portend.
Trials and Tribulations will help readers understand the challenges the country is confronting, and the roles various actors played in shaping the present state of affairs. Written for a wider audience, these essays unpack the complex dynamics of the economy and politics, and the interplay of domestic politics and foreign affairs with clarity and depth. Academics, policymakers, students and observers of Bangladesh will gain a different perspective by reading this book.
